The Turks, when they go abroad, always complain about breakfast, saying that "there was nothing to eat, we died of starvation, only jam and bread, cheese was tasteless, nobody has heard of olives, who eats cornflakes with milk in the morning?" and so on and so forth.

Of course, when you are used to the fact that you can find on the table whatever you wish, it is difficult to accept as your breakfast a bowl of muesli or a boiled egg and sandwich. Yes, I completely agree with the Turkish people: Turkish breakfast is the best breakfast ever.

There are numerous places for having breakfast in Istanbul, but sometimes not everything looks as beautiful as in the pictures. I want to share my experience and propose you a list of cafes and restaurants which did not disappoint me.

1) MADO - the prices are reasonable, portions are big and you have a variety of options. This cafe is located almost everywhere in Istanbul, but my favorite one is Emirgan MADO (a gorgeous view of the Bosphorus and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridge). If you want to have breakfast there on the weekend, come early in the morning.

2) Beyaz Fırın (Suadiye) - warm atmosphere, interesting menu, beautiful presentation of dishes. The price is higher than average

3) Lacivert – everything is perfect. Brunch is something incredible, it is truly an embarrassment of riches . Fresh juices, delicious vegetables and fruits, different types of cheese, olives, eggs, buns, various sorts of bread for all tastes, cakes - you name it. The only disadvantage is its prices.

4) Big Chef (Anadolu hisarı) - this chain of cafés is widespread, but if you want to enjoy a marvelous view of the Bosphorus, go to this one (Anadolu hisarı). You need to be lucky to get the table just near the water, in this case you will get the double pleasure from your breakfast.

5) Cafe Cadde serves the Turks for 16 years, and believe me, it is not easy to please Turkish people in terms of food. So don't pass it by!

6) Görkem Kilis Sofrası (Florya) - variety and taste have won my heart.

But in fact, the best breakfast is the one that I have prepared.
