Once it starts getting cold out, you always want something sweet. Cold coffee is replaced by the one that burns your tongue, instead of ice cream your eyes rest on different cakes.

Istanbul is full of temptations for a sweet tooth, rest assured, you will definitely find a dessert to your liking.

When I lived in St. Petersburg, I was just dreaming about eastern desserts, of course, my favorite one was baklava. Its honey taste, melting in the mouth, with lots of nuts inside. I remember how I opened a magic box, feeling this sweet smell, then I pierced dough with a fork, and… rolled my eyes from its taste. Strong tea or coffee better emphasizes the taste of baklava, but many people suggest drinking ayran with it, others like to eat it with ice cream – it is also a good idea.

If your mouth is watering after reading this, go there:

1) Güllüoğlu – there are many branches of this patisserie in Istanbul, but the most popular one is that, which is located in Karakoy district, unfortunately it is tooooo crowded. Buy and take away.

2) Hafız Mustafa is one of the oldest shops in town, founded in 1864. The interior of the store stays the same for 153 years. You can find there endless selection of confectionery, coffee and spices.

3) Koska is distributed and seen throughout the city. Their goods can be found around the world. Koska also has a line of diabetic-friendly goods such as sugar-free helva.

Of course, you can try Turkish desserts in many cafes and restaurants, even bakeries of shopping centres sell delicious pastries. But these three places which I mentioned above will not disappoint you with its quality.

In conclusion it is necessary to say that Turkey and diet are incompatible 😜
